1992 or 1993 Central Fidelity Commercial

This is from when mom taped Troop Beverly Hills for me one night in January of 1992, I think.

Check out all the old Farm Freshes in the Central Fidelity Commercial! Now no Farm Freshes have banks…right? I know the bank in the Smithfield location closed down a few years back.

Also notice the other local ads. Is elephantsgalore still open? The only results I found were vague city search pages. However, it looks like The Paneling Factory is still open.

  1. It may’ve switched from Central Fidelity at some point, but I think Wachovia was the last bank in the Smithfield store before it was replaced by a Farm Fresh Pharmacy.

Interesting that all the competitors of the Paneling Factory (Hechinger, HQ, Builders Square) are gone.

Thanks for the Central Fidelity/Farm Fresh video.

  2. Central Fidelity was before my time. Were they absorbed by Wachovia?

I’m amazed that the Paneling Factory hasn’t changed its name. Nobody has used paneling in a quarter century!

  3. I just remembered, I think for a while Farm Fresh had Chartway banks in their stores.

  4. Yes… the Farm Fresh at Mt. Pleasant and Centerville in Chesapeake, which has been open for a year or two, has a Chartway FCU.

  5. Yeah, I am 99% sure that Central Fidelity is now Wachovia.
