  1. You know I don’t know what it is about these former SuperFresh locations but I know of at least two others like this one in Virginia with the slanted front that have been vacant for the better part of the last decade. You would think that the owners of these shopping centers would have tried to capitalize on this space somehow or another. Since this is still vacant I would imagine that the vacant former Hill’s is still there as well. The Mercury Blvd. retail corridor was kind of hit or miss when I was in that area from ’01-’04. I don’t know how successful that powerplant retail area has become. I remember that they deep-sixed plans to build a Super Kmart there when the company went into trouble and it sat as just a shell up until the time I left.

  2. I live in Hampton and have all my life. Yeah this goes way back. I think the last time that this building was used was back in the 90’s. It’s part of the Riverdale Shopping Center. This shopping center is on Mercury Blvd. and is not very active there are some “mom and pop” stores in there as well as a Office Max(this stays well busy), but other than that not much is going on there. There’s also a post office located there as well that is still in use. For the most part the shopping center is quite. They have tried to put some other stores in there over the years, but none of them stayed long. I think maybe the reason why so many stores fail in this shopping center is because it’s kind of an eye sore. I mean most of the shopping center is empty and shut down and has been that way since late mid 90’s. Maybe a little later, but most cetainly since 2000 nothing much has been going on here.

They are currently re-constructing all of the Colliseum area so maybe this will go as well….?
