“Super K Mart Queensbury New York late night walk in”

Filed under: deadmalls.com — Anita @ 7:03 pm

Deadmalls.com creators Peter Blackbird and Brian Florence take a late night walk into KMart sometime (in I’m guessing) the early 2000’s.

Not only is it the only KMart in New York, it is the only decent looking Kmart as well.

// note from Brian Florence//

Hey,

thanks for the link πŸ˜‰

just to clarify, its not the only Kmart in NY.. its the only Kmart Super center in NY.Β  and New England.Β  There may be one in PA somewhere.Β  I know Ohio has several.

  1. Seriously, the only Kmart in NY? I have family who live there no wonder my cousin has never heard of some chain places I bring up.

  2. I’ve only been to new york once, a few weeks ago, but I was actually quite surprised to find a k-mart just outside, and connect to, the train station I went to. I’m pretty sure there’s more than one in new york.

  4. Ahhhh Super Kmart, haven’t seen one of those in years! I know when Kmart filed for bankruptcy in the early 2000s, they very heavily cut back on the number of Super Kmart stores they operated. The wikipedia article on Kmart says that they’re fewer than 60 Super Kmarts left. πŸ™‚

    I think there’s only something like 1-2 Super Kmarts left in the state I live in, Illinois(with one of those around Kankakee). It’s ironic to think that Kmart does trump Target in something: that Super Kmarts are open 24 hours, while Super Targets are NOT, and have pathetic regular hours that any other non-Super Target store would have. LOL

  5. I know of at least a Super Kmart located in NY. (I’m not getting on your back with the only Kmart in NY thing, I’m just not sure if Super Kmart and Kmart Super Centers are the same, so I figured I’d tell you of this one)If they are the same, there is one in the Bronx (it opened in 1995/6). It also still has a Little Caesars in it, which is becoming more and more rare. The store up until recently had never been updated, and still the only change is the exterior sign. The interior is the original and the Little Caesars still has the original mid 90’s patterned tables and chairs. I grew up in the apartment complex surrounding the shopping center this Kmart is located in (Bay Plaza). There also used to be a Bradlees there when I was a kid.

  6. I don’t shop at Wal-Mart (evil bastards!) so Super K-Mart has always been the holy grail of discount shopping for me. The only one that I’ve ever known is in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. They’re pretty cool places to go into….they really do have everything you’d ever need to buy..and they’re prices usually can’t be beat…They’re not Hills (Defunct West Penn Discount Chain) but they’ll do. Btw, does anyone remember Hills? That Place rocked!
