All That is Left of Coliseum Mall (September, 2007)

All that is Left of Coliseum MallI took this picture in the new JC Penney parking lot.

Former JC Penney (Hampton, VA).Everything was sold and moved out in early August, and the new JC Penney down from it was opened in late August. This one will be torn down. After this is torn down, the only building standing from the old Coliseum Mall days will be the Macys.

  1. I idly noticed (idly as in “took no pictures”) that there are now Peninsula Town Whatevermajigger signs out on the perimeter.

Will miss the old Penney’s building (along with everything already leveled) but it’ll be interesting to see what kind of mellow magic the (re)developers will try to work in this maelstrom of shoppers, congestion and I-64.

  2. Yeah, they put up those signs like pretty much a month after the mall closed it seems.

  3. My husband and I met eleven years ago at Coliseum mall, at what used to be Hecht’s Department store. I guess it’s Macy’s now. Is it still standing, or is the place where the best thing that ever happened to me happened gone forever??
