I Want To Be A Crate In Motion

I found this old newspaper ad from the mid to late 1980’s a few weeks ago.

…Back in the 80’s they had (pauses) stores that catered to furniture made out of crates. And that shit wasn’t cheap either.

You can’t even find this furniture in the thrift stores.

  1. Wonder if it’s becuase it was built so well that people can’t bear to part with it, or because it was such pieces of crap that it fell apart before it could be donated???

  2. The font for that store looks similar to the Hechinger font..which was a home improvement store popular in Ohio until mid 90s when they closed. Most are Lowe’s or Home Depot stores. That is one category that may never concede to Wal Mart, though it is much more consolidated now. Grossman’s, HQ, Builder’s Square, Hechinger..all gone..but these two survive. Interesting.
